Rock & Blues outfit Tea arrived in the Almeria province on Friday for a whirlwind tour of 3 gigs in 3 days, to the delight of their ever growing fanbase.

The world famous band of more than 20 years actually make the trip twice a year and there’s always so much excitement in the air, as they are one of the best Spanish bands!

Tea are different from the rest, as they never have a set list prepared,  They never know which song is coming next and they just go with the flow. For me, this shows how truly talented they are and there is always this element of surprise to each one of their gigs.

The band perform covers of classic songs in their set and I will be honest with you, that most of the time, you can’t actually tell which songs are the covers, as they really leave their own mark on them and make the songs their own. George’s voice is full of soul, that you lose yourself in to his lyrical affair. The other half of their set is their own original songs and they just blow you away so effortlessly with their pure talent.

Heartbreak in Aguadulce was the band’s first stop in the South. The energy was electric as everyone piled in off the streets, to catch a glimpse of the super skillful and talented musicians. The band had travelled 7 hours (traffic was chaotic) from Madrid before hand and it didn’t show, they gave it their all throughout. Alfonso is like Animal from The Muppets on drums, he has so much energy!!! Quique on guitar executes every riff with precision and skill. George is one of the best vocalists that I’ve ever heard in my entire life and along with his brother, one of the best guitarists and finally, Pedro on bass, knows how to slap it, He always looks so at ease and in his element!

The band are such a tight unit and complement each other perfectly.

Pachamama Rock in Mojacar, was the next stop on Saturday and they did not disappoint! The crowd were definitely feeling the mood and enjoying every moment. The highlight of the night, was the band’s cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’ which is still one of the best covers that I’ve ever heard of this classic track. The crowd went wild and cried out for more!!!

The band’s final stop, was Route 66 in Tabernas. This gig focused more on their Bluesy side compared to the previous two nights. It was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon and seeing that side of them shine, was absolutely wonderful.

The band never disappoint and they actually make you crave for more. We actually bumped into a guy, who had seen them for the first time, the night before in Pachamama Rock and liked them that much, he made the trip to Tabernas because he didn’t know when he would see them again. That’s how much they had made an impact on him, just like they do with everyone else. You are literally hooked after the first listen!

Tea are a MUST see for any music lover, they make the grey skies blue and they bring you so much joy!

You need lashings of Tea in your life!
