Rock City 7/3/15
Yellowcard and Less Than Jake (co-headlining)
with support Chunk, No! Captain Chunk
It was early doors for Chunk, No! Captain Chunk as they kicked proceedings off at 6.10pm. A good French Pop Punk band who held the crowds attention from the get go. The atmosphere was electric as the excitement kept building. They bashed out track after track to the crowds delight and the highlight for me was their cover of Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’ which had every one singing out until their lungs collapsed.
The crowd were on top form throughout with no sign of slowing.
Up next were Less Than Jake, who appeared to the overly excited crowd. The atmosphere continued to be off the scale with so much energy pumping through. We had pit circles and all as it was like a flashback to the early 2000´s when Pop Punk was on top. They put on a fun show with plenty of laughs and rocking tunes. They worked their way through hit after hit. They even sang the Pacman cereal theme song to every one´s delight.
When Yellowcard took to the stage, the house was buzzing and every one was in full swing. They blew the roof off with so much energy and passion. The crowd lapped it up and sang every lyric to every song. It was like one big sing a long. The band sang the classics as well as some of the new songs off their latest album `Lift A Sail´
They opened with `Crash The Gates´ which was a highlight for sure and another highlight of the night was`Lift A Sail´ as its an empowering song and every one in the crowd sang along lifting the room high above and into a euphoria which didn´t fade until the last chord was played.
It felt like a blast from the past in Pop-Punk and it was such a great show overall from the beginning until the very end.
